Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Politics

So, after not having written in a week or so – and on the eve of the anniversary of our nation's independence – I'm going to get (slightly) political on your ass.

Might I just ask, where is the outrage? I mean, the serious, impeach-this-guy's-ass outrage? I understand that the President has the power to commute sentences, to pardon his cronies, etc. But really? Commute the sentence of a guy who put the life of an agent defending this country at risk? Jeopardize any operation she's ever worked on and potentially the lives of other agents all because her husband pissed you off? Pissed you off because he told the truth? Seriously?

Scooter Libby deserves to be in jail. Never mind that Karl Rove and Dick Cheney should be there, too. Shouldn't there be a greater expression of outrage and defiance on the part of all the law abiding Americans who believe in truth, justice, and the American way? I mean, if you or I committed a crime, we'd have to serve our time.

I mean, it is seriously hard for me to believe that there was more discourse surrounding Clinton's blowjob than there is when that horrid little man we call the President uses his position of power to reward one of his cronies for ruining a decent person's life.

Amen to all that!! I hate those bastards!! After half the U.S. re-elected those shitheads I gave up fighting. I seriously cried at the thought of another 4 years. I am just waiting for Fall 2008. Anyone, ANYONE! is better than Bush and his circus of assholes!!

Amen to that! I was thinking about this just last night. Wondering why I hadn't received a moveon.org email petition yet and pondering who in washington to call and register my angst with. Curious - what are you going to do about it? What steps would you recommend we the discontented and outraged do at this juncture? Thanks for articulating what should be peppered across every media outlet ...

Don't get me started..W and Cheney obviously know they can get away with doing whatEVER they want, including abolishing habeas corpus, torturing prisoners, wiretapping U.S. citizens, and on and on, so why would they stop at commuting a sentence? I think Scooter is the fall guy, but at the same time they had to ensure he wouldn't talk--don't let him serve his sentence, during which time he might have too much time to think. Instead he'll get a million a year job as a consultant somewhere. Meanwhile Gov. W wouldn't pardon or commute death sentences for mentally retarded black men whose attorneys slept through their entire trials.

I guess you did get me started! :)

I agree with your sentiment, however, just to get technical about it, Libby was convicted of lying about Rove & Armitage ruining a decent person's life. Doesn't that make you feel better?

I didn't think it would.

I didn't even write about this. It's too much. These people are criminals. They have been, they are, and they will be until they're out of office.

What's worse, though, if they've tipped the Supreme Court to the right. THAT is going to do worlds of damage. Over the long haul, too.
